ERASMUS+ BIP (Blended Intensive Programme)

The Marine Data Literacy course is an Erasmus Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), designed to provide a comprehensive and immersive educational experience. Erasmus BIP courses are short, intensive programmes that employ innovative methods of learning and teaching, incorporating online cooperation to facilitate a rich, multifaceted educational environment. These programmes often involve challenge-based learning, where transnational and transdisciplinary teams collaborate to address real-world challenges, including those related to the United Nations’ sustainable development goals or other societal issues identified by regions, cities, or companies.

The attached graphic shows the structure of the Marine Data Literacy course. The course is divided into two main parts: the BIP portion and the Online Project. The BIP portion comprises two phases, totaling 5 ECTS credits. The first phase, Virtual Mobility, involves introductory lectures and is worth 2 ECTS credits. Following this, the second phase, Physical Mobility, focuses on practical sessions and accounts for 3 ECTS credits. After successfully completing these two phases, students proceed to the Online Project phase, which begins during the Physical Mobility phase and adds another 3 ECTS credits, making it essential to complete each preceding phase to advance to the next. In total, the entire course offers 8 ECTS credits.

This structured approach ensures that students engage in a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application, facilitated through both in-person and online interactions, embodying the essence of Erasmus BIPs by fostering international collaboration and innovative educational practices.

CHECK LIST

  • Registering for a short course in marine data literacy:
    1. Fill in form at https://forms.gle/9fZd4wffxi1ECCK76
    2. You will need to upload:
      1. Identification Document
      2. Letter of recommendation (template)
      3. Letter of motivation (template)
      4. Most significant certificate
      5. Available certificate in the English language (not mandatory)
  •  Registering for ERASMUS mobility for BIP (This may vary for different Universities, so It is important for students to check the exact requirements with their University’s International Office).
    • Before the mobility
      1. Acceptance letter issued by host institution
      2. Financial Identification Form
      3. Online Learning Agreement (OLA) for Short Term Mobility accessed through the Learning Agreement EU website.
      4. Copy of travel insurance
      5. Copy of flight ticket (for review only)
    •  Crucial information for prior to and during the mobility
      1. Beneficiary Grant Agreement
      2. European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)
      3. Accommodation and flight arrangements to be secured by the student.
    • Post mobility documents (to be submitted within 30 days after the mobility)
      1. Certificate of Attendance issued by the host institution
      2. Participant Online Survey
  • No initial programming skills required, but a relevant background from previous studies is expected.
    • Students joining the course do not need any initial programming skills, but are expected to have acquired the necessary backgrounds from their first degree courses.
