><h2><b>Adam Gauci<\/b><\/h2>\n<h3><i><b>Associate Proffesor in the Department of Geosciences<br \/>\nUniversity of Malta<\/b><\/i><\/h3>\n<p>Prof. Adam Gauci is a data scientist at the Oceanography Malta Research Group. He has been involved in a number of projects including the setting up of the CALYPSO HF Radar System to monitor in real-time sea surface currents across the Malta Channel, as well as the installation of a number of meteo-marine observation stations around the Maltese islands. Adam obtained his Ph.D. with the Department of Intelligent Computer Systems at the University of Malta with research on the applications of Machine Learning techniques on mega-dimensional datasets. He directs the Malta Training Centre of the International Ocean Institute (IOI) and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (London). He is also a Full Professor within the Faculty of Science of the University of Malta, where he coordinates the Master of Science in Applied Oceanography course and acts as the Rector\u2019s Delegate on the SEA-EU 2.0 (University of the Sea) alliance, which features a Consortium of nine European Universities. She completed her PhD in Theoretical Physics, related to the modelling of complex systems.\u00a0Until 2023, she was an assistant professor at the Faculty of Oceanography and Geography at the University of Gda\u0144sk, and from 2020 to 2023, she served as the head of the Department of Physical Oceanography. Her scientific interests revolve around physics, oceanography, and coastal engineering. As a part of her PhD she is working on long-term hindcasts of wind wave data from the Baltic Sea. Her focus is on the severe wave events in selected areas of the Baltic as well as on the relation of these phenomena to the changing climate. PhD in Marine Sciences at the University of C\u00e1diz, Spain (2000). I enjoy the Ocean in its complex diversity: From climate to small-scale processes, I like all applications of Oceanography to solve different tasks. He graduated with a Master of Science in Computer Science and PhD at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universit\u00e4t M\u00fcnchen (LMU Munich). He is currently pursuing his habilitation at the Christian-Albrechts-Universit\u00e4<wbr \/>t zu Kiel (CAU Kiel). His current research is in the field of subspace pattern discovery and in-between instance detection. Besides research he is also involved in teaching having received the fund for teaching innovation at the CAU Kiel. Through my participation in various marine research expeditions, I acquired vast knowledge in data processing and visualisation, in particular with Ocean Data View (ODV).
